lookin’ good {hartland tween photography}

Love these shots from Monday’s session…I had to share.  Will totally made my job super easy.  AND, he could seriously be one of the nicest, coolest, and cutest 8th graders ever!!!  The lighting was absolutely beautiful and I love that Will wanted to do something in the snow with his dog Libby.  There’s nothing like the love between a boy and his dog, right?

I’m doing a lot of 8th grade mini-sessions for their farewell video and so far they are a great success!  I’ve had so much fun and I’ve met some new families and got to see some of the old favorites too.

A Prickly Tale

Welcome to my blog of musings and other delightful things! I must admit that I’m incredibly excited to be able to share stories from each session alongside the photos. Every session, family, child, and location is so different, I can’t wait to share with you the way I see it.

Do you want to know where Thistle & Muse came from? I have always thoughts thistles were interesting, and I vividly remember them in the field behind my house as a kid. If you look hard enough, you will probably see them everywhere too. But, that’s the Canadian thistle. The Scottish thistle, is very slightly more beautiful and is the Emblem of Scotland. Well, we are Scottish, and my grandfather gave us sterling silver thistle pins from Scotland, the design of which became the basis for my logo.

A muse is someone who has an influence on another that he or she becomes the focus and inspiration for that person’s creative work. Many artists, writers, poets and musicians have said that their creative work has been inspired by an individual whom they refer to as their muse. The term has historically been used by men to describe the women that they have been in love with and made the subject of their work.

Put them together and you have something that captures the very essence of who I am and what you can expect from my photography. I hope you enjoy!
